| Venice is a city in northern Italy, the capital of region Veneto, and has a population of 275000. The city stretches across 110 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea.
The islands on which the city is built are connected by about 400 bridges. Venice is world-famous for its canals. The classical Venetian boat is the gondola. Piazza San Marco is the principal square of Venice. The Piazza dominated by the Basilica, the Doge's Palace and the Basilica's campanile.
